A hard refresh forces your browser to reload a webpage from the server, bypassing any stored cache. This is useful when a site isn’t displaying the latest updates or seems stuck.
? How to Perform a Hard Refresh:
- Windows (PC): Press Ctrl + F5
- Mac: Press Command (⌘) + Shift + R
? Browser-Specific Notes:
- Chrome & Firefox (Windows/Mac): Both support the shortcuts above. You can also open Dev Tools (F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I) and right-click the refresh icon for a “Hard Reload” option.
- Safari (Mac): Use Command + Option + R for a hard refresh. If that doesn’t work, clear cache via Safari > Settings > Advanced > Show Develop menu, then use Develop > Empty Caches.
- Edge (Windows): Same shortcut as Chrome—Ctrl + F5. You can also use Shift + F5 in some cases.
